BTCVIV: Weaving Bitcoin Into Culture, Connection, and Creativity

Not all Bitcoiners enter the space through economics or code. Some arrive through curiosity, self-reflection, and art. For Vivian — known online as btcviv — Bitcoin became more than a technology; it became a lens for living. Through her roles as a marketer, event director, podcaster, and artist, she’s helping shape a more human narrative around the world’s most powerful digital asset.

Vivian is the Event Director of Bitcoin Asia, a key part of the global Bitcoin Conference series, where she works to build cultural and intellectual bridges between East and West. But that’s just one dimension of her mission. As host of Life with Bitcoin, and a singer-songwriter performing as Ivy Lumi, she uses every medium available to deepen the story of what Bitcoin means — not just financially, but philosophically and personally.

“I started in the Bitcoin space working behind the scenes. And I had to go through a hurdle before deciding to do the podcast and become public with my face and my name,” she shared during her recent appearance on the Coinrock Show.

“And the same thing was music. There’s the vulnerability that comes with showing who you are and be honest with yourself, especially your personal lives and your personal stories.”

From East to West, Building Cultural Bridges Through Bitcoin

Vivian’s work with Bitcoin Asia is about more than event logistics. She sees these gatherings as catalysts for meaningful cross-cultural dialogue. Her role is to bring people together, not just around price charts and whitepapers, but around stories, values, and experiences. That’s why she thinks Bitcoin must evolve beyond just a financial instrument and into a cultural movement.

“If you are broadly in this space remotely interested, understand Bitcoin as a technology or not. Try to forget about whether you agree with Bitcoin, technologically,” she suggested.

“Take a step back and try to think along the lines of what Bitcoin means for human beings, like what does it do? What can it do? What does it mean? What does it mean for me?”

The idea of East meeting West isn’t just symbolic — it’s central to her mission. From navigating linguistic divides to programming culturally diverse speakers, her focus is on accessibility and storytelling. And for Vivian, Bitcoin Asia isn’t just a conference. It’s a staging ground for a more unified global ethos around sovereignty and community.

“So I kind of come in and bridge the gap, being someone who grew up in the East and now works and lives in the West. And yeah, really glad it’s working out. And now I’m really excited to create the experience of bridging the Bitcoin community of the East and the West.”

Life with Bitcoin

In her podcast Life with Bitcoin, Vivian dives into how Bitcoin intersects with identity, creativity, and self-discovery. Unlike technical shows or price-focused media, her approach is lifestyle-driven, rooted in personal narratives. Guests explore what it’s like to live on a Bitcoin standard — not in spreadsheets, but in emotions, family decisions, and spiritual growth.

She doesn’t shy away from deep questions. In fact, one of her goals is to show how Bitcoin catalyzes internal transformation. That’s why she often references concepts like low time preference and proof of work in personal terms, not just economic ones.

Bitcoin is really reflective… it has this power to encourage ourselves to radically transform. So I would encourage, if you are remotely interested, take a step back and ask: what does Bitcoin mean for me?

The Artist as Bitcoiner: Ivy Lumi’s Emotional Proof of Work

Vivian’s journey wouldn’t be complete without music. Performing under the name Ivy Lumi, she channels her philosophical and emotional experiences into song. It’s not just a side project — it’s a direct extension of her Bitcoin ethos. Where others build dApps or DAOs, she builds melodies, lyrics, and emotional bridges.

For her, music is another proof of work — a creative act that demands time, energy, and vulnerability. And just like Bitcoin, it operates beyond language.

I would say it’s a passion that was made possible by Bitcoin. If it wasn’t for Bitcoin, the project wouldn’t have existed,” she notes.

“And those are the songs that I wrote in the past two years, traveling to different places around the world because of Bitcoin.”

That’s why she believes music has the power to onboard people into Bitcoin in a way lectures and charts never could.

“Take the time, spend the money on the things you love, on the people that you love. Because in the end, it is about life with Bitcoin. And let’s all remember to be present.”

A Culture Worth Building

Vivian’s story reminds us that Bitcoin isn’t just code — it’s culture. It’s not only about what we stack, but how we live. Her vision is one where artistic expression, global connection, and individual sovereignty form the heart of Bitcoin’s next chapter.

Whether she’s curating global conferences, guiding vulnerable podcast conversations, or singing to a beat born of conviction, Vivian is making sure Bitcoin doesn’t just scale tech — it scales meaning.
